According to the new report, Microsoft continues to leave Apple in the dust in the desktop operating system market. The statistics reveal that 9 out of every 10 computers are running Windows operating system
According to research of the company NetMarketShare made in June, 91.51% of the world’s computers are having Windows operating system. While Apple’s Mac operating system was far behind with 6.12%, Linux was only in the third rank with a number of 2.36%.
When we look at the statistics, it is seen that Windows has retained its market share in the last 12 months. Despite the fact that it actually has some decreases, it does not fall well below the 91% range. The same rate is true for the MacOS operating system, however this time the front is down. Apple’s desktop platform contracted to 6.07% in December 2016 after 7.37% in August last year before reaching 6.12% usage rate, and then recovered.
Microsoft Windows is dominating the global PC market as well as it is leading the game space. Valve data reveal that most of the Steam users prefer this operating system to play games. More than 95% of the computers on which Steam is installed are running Windows operating system.
Undoubtedly, ever-increasing Windows PCs have helped Microsoft’s desktop operating system become a leader in the market for nearly 12 years. As a result, the dream of making Apple number one choice for MacOS users around the world is getting more and more impossible.
