Are you ready to add a space trip into the next year’s summer holiday plans? Of course, you need to check your budget firstly to see whether you can afford this crazy holiday.
New images of the space capsule of Blue Origin have been showed by Jeff Bezos, founder of Blue Origin and CEO of Amazon.com. Blue Origin is the space tourism company aiming to start space tourism in 2018. The space capsule of the company is named New Shepard. The passengers who buy a ticket on New Shepard will travel above the Kármán line, 62 miles above the surface of the planet. The Karman line is the boundary between Earth’s atmosphere and space. The space passengers will experience weightlessness, and see the darkness of space and the curve of the planet.
The space capsule of Blue Origin, New Shepard, will host 6 space tourists. The most striking feature that distinguishes the New Shepard from its rivals is the large window that will let passengers to have an amazing view. In other words, ‘The New Shepard capsule’ promises to be the best view of the world to the adventurers who will take a small fortune out of sight.
What about the cost of such an amazing trip? The cost of a trip with New Shepard has not yet been declared. But, it will probably be beyond the budget of most of us. Private spaceflight company Virgin Galactic has been selling tickets aboard its SpaceShipTwo space plane between $200,000 and $250,000. Virgin Galactic is seen as the strongest rival of Blue Origin. Space tourism experts believe that the cost of space trips will go down over time. If we get lucky, maybe we can also travel to space. Or we will continue reading Jules Verne and continue to learn the cosmos from Neil Degrasse Tyson.
